about red barn granola

Hello, I'm Julie. Thank you for your interest in Red Barn Granola.
I’m often asked what inspired me to start Red Barn Granola. In 2018, my oldest child left for college, my next kid was confidently navigating high school, and I found myself at a turning point—wondering what my next chapter might be. I have long admired women who build small food businesses from the ground up—artisan in spirit, thoughtfully made, and entirely their own—and, in 2019, I felt ready to do the same.
My childhood was shaped on a farm outside Seattle—raising horses, driving tractors, and spending long days playing in a weathered old barn, filled with hay and complete with a rope swing. That barn wasn’t just where we worked and played; it’s where my dad lived, and where I ate simple, oat-filled granola with him each weekend morning. So when I decided to start a food business, granola felt like the natural choice. Its simplicity matched those days exactly. I wanted to honor that foundation while refining it—creating a modern take on a homemade classic.

When my family and I moved to Sun Valley, Idaho, it felt like a natural next step. Given my history, it was no surprise that I fell in love with Sun Valley’s iconic red barn. It reflected much of what I value—simplicity, durability, and a strong sense of place. Today, Red Barn Granola is thoughtfully crafted with an artisan flair—made in small batches, with balanced, modern flavors—designed to be part of everyday mornings.
From my Sun Valley kitchen to your home, thank you for being part of the Red Barn story.
